Kala Khatta

Kala Khatta is a tangy flavored sharbat (cold drink). Kala Khatta Sharbat is used in making golas or ice lollies, a traditional Indian item, very popular in the summers.

An ice gola is a lump of crushed ice on top of a stick which is dipped in syrups like orange, pineapple, kala khatta, etc. It is particularly liked by children.
In India, kala khatta golas vendors with their carts can be found every where during the summers. They are generally found in front of schools as children are very fond of kala khatta.

Kala Khatta drink can be made from fresh lime juice spiced by ground pepper and rock salt. Kala Khatta concentrates are commonly available in the shops and are more hygienic than the ones sold by the vendors in the streets. Nevertheless, the street vendors of kala khatta golas are very poplar in India and make a brisk business during the summers. Kala Khatta is also a very good cocktail ingredient and gives a traditional touch to the drink. Can be used to make exotic cocktails
